Put the boat in at Roses around 0900 Sunday morning with a friend and his son. We eased along casting to the shoreline/toulees. We used Tiny poppers on the fly rod, and the jig in 1/80, 1/32, & 1/16 oz. Tipped the jig head with crappie tubes in various colors with either a crappie nibble or Berkley's 1 inch black leech. There didn't seem to be a color preference today. Also tried the bobber setup, but was more productive without the bobber. The popper on the fly rod was the hot item today, and at one time my friend said, You just can't release them fast enough. I'd never heard it put that way, but he had just caught one, removed the hook, and was admiring the lil bugger when another grabs his popper dangling in the water. So there he was with a fish in hand, and one on his line. LOL, It was warm, but the wind made it bearable. We caught Bluegill up to 10 or so inches, and crappie up to 11 1/2 inches. I caught bass as small as 2-3 inches. Pretty lil things, but no bigger ones were caught. Some of the female bluegills were still big bellied with eggs. Between the three of us we kept 48 total fish. Some of them were in the 7 inch range, but most were 8-9 inches. Good fight on my new fly rod. It got broken in real good with the bull gills. Be sure to take plenty of water/liquids to drink in this hot weather. Good luck out there.

Nice looking bunch of nibblers there Lewis. Been awhile since I used a popper, I used to use them a lot but lost them in a move. Way to go on having a productive weekend of fish. :-D
