Went after smallies from the shores of Magnuson Park, starting about 6:15am. After about 30 mins of no signs of life, I hook into one of the biggest smallies I have ever felt tugging on my line. I tried to play him carefully with my 6lb line. It was a pretty good standoff for about a minute. But on the second jump, it shook the hook :( The big slap sound when that fish hit the water after that that big jump was awesome. About 30 mins after that, I beached a smaller fish, maybe a foot long. This fish is pictured with the big roostertail it took. I kept working along the shore, but no more smallies for the next 2 hours. I did loose another fish when it jumped, but it looked like a small perch.

Was overcast, with low clouds, and not much wind at first. Saw a few bass boats out with the labels on the engines that looked to be in a tournament. But nobody else was shorebound like me.

Thanks, Quad. That big one was a thrill. It hunkered down, slowly moving around, until surprising me with the sudden big jumps.
