I had some work with the Spokane Tribe this morning and I decided to try Horseshoe on the way back to Spokane.
I got to the lake about noon or so. Water temps: 69° at the surface and 66° at 20'
I saw a swarm of light blue damsels at the launch area so I began dragging a damsel pattern of the shallows into the deeper seciton of the lake. This worked after a few casts on the far side of the lake. I caught 2 nice 11" Rainbows and missed a couple more in the first 15 minutes of fishing. After 30 min without any action I decided to go deep with a Teeny Nymph as I saw a few fish "gurgling" some light brown nymphs near the shallows. I fished vertically in 15' of water and after a few casts hooked a nice 15" holdover. Over the next hour or so I landed several more nice fish (10 to 14"). I had to get back to town by 4:00 so I had to call it a day by 2:45 or so.
All in all I caught about 9 fish and hooked 3 or 4 more in a couple of hours.
4 stars for numbers of fish in 2+ hours.
Tight Lines!
