Fished Banks for about 5 hrs. The three of us caught about 80-90 Smallies. It was crazzzzzy! We also landed 3 Walleye during that same time. I will post some pix soon of the limits we kept. Banks is by far my fav Bass lake. You just have to know how to fish it...

I bet that made for a great fish fry! I'd fish it more often myself if it wasn't such a long drive.

Boy ain't that the truth! I only get to go to Banks a couple times a year, because of the distance. But boy is it worth it when I go!

May I ask what part of the lake you fished? Also , with numbers like that, was there a magic bullet? Thanks Andy

If you fish across the lake from the million dollar mile launch you will have no problem finding them. Try fishing 3" grubs on a road runner head... or just a jig head will work... blk/char works good ,or pumpkin seed with green flakes... Happy fishing! PS look for the areas where you can see the boulders down in the water, and don't be afraid to loose a few grubs...

There is a limit on the fisheries that allows for people like me and Techguy to be able to keep and enjoy eating some of our freshly caught fish. That doesn't mean that we keep every fish caught or even keep a full limit. Some fisheries are damaged by not keeping numbers down to a level that the lake can sustain. I've lived in Grand coulee a third of my life( now 37yrs. of age) and am very confident that people keeping some limits of fish out of Banks lake will not hurt and could possibly even improve the fishery. This lake is one of the best places in our state to fish and has a very heathy smallmouth bass population, not to mention they are very very tasty.

I have never fished Banks but from some investigative internet reading, I think people need to keep some of the fish out of there. I read that in most tournaments, there, the average winning catch is 14 pounds. That is an average of 2.8 pounds. The story also claimed that there are not a whole lot of 4# plus sized fish in Banks. I am thinking that there are just too many fish because when you have a lake that is 25,000 acres, it should not be all that hard to catch a 4 pound Smallie. Catching 100 fish a day may be cool and all, but, IMO, if you could cut that in half and double the average size of the fish, we would all be way better off. Oh, and the bass would be better off, as well.

We only kept one limit each Buzz! We released far more than we kept... Take a deep breath man.... I'm all about catch and release, but I do like to keep a few to eat.... mm mm good!
