Hit Lake Chelan for a couple of hours this AM, launched at Mill Bay and worked the Mack Bar. I marked fish in several locations, and had 6-7 hits with three hook-ups. All three were lost before I could get them from the deep. It wasn't my day for landing Macks, but it was good to feel the head shake from the deep. I will be back.

I here you on the head shakes. With today's sensitive rods and braided lines, it almost feels like you are holding the fish in your hands. Better luck next time!

Thanks G-Man, It is amazing to be able to feel the shaking on the line when fishing 125 feet and deeper.

thanks for the report. Going to fish Chelan this Year sometime with my dad I cant wait. Only fished Lake Tahoe for macs With a 2 fish limit. But very good fishing. One thing when my father and I started fishing Lake Tahoe we had a lot of ldr's (long distance release) because we where setting the hooks. We learned that they are soft mouthed so setting the hook was ripping the lips.Cause of lost fished. Better luck taking a fish for a boat ride next time.

Glad to see you are having some luck with those Macs (at least from your previous post), know what you mean about the fight, these Dollies are similer but seem to put up a serious fight directly under the boat and when they set their mind you just can't lift them up for a while! Bob R.

Hey Thanks Troller, That may be part of my problem. I've been leaning on them pretty heavily. Using 30# Power pro, and have been trying to rush them up from the depths. next time out I will be a little more gentle. LOL

Hi ya Bob R. I figure the law of averages will play in my favor if I keep going out after them. LOL I will be changing my hook setting tactics and won't try to horse them up, and see how that works. Thanks for the comment.

While the Dollies are somewhat similar to Macs the mouths are def. not tender, they have almost a double jawline with really strong muscles. They've even opened hook type stringers and gotten off! We have been using somewhat ultra light gear(7 ft .baitcaster ugly sticks kokekanee model with 15lb. power pro braid, on little c3 and c4 reels by abu-garcia), we know you are fishing deeper than we are but if you can try a lighter setup on one of yor rods I'm sure you will increase boated fish it's almost impossible to horse them, and it's a whole lt more fun. Those Macs can be a little lame coming up on heavy gear. I know that joe Heinlein uses pretty heavy gear when we went out with him, you beat up lots of giant trout from Rufus successfully on ultralight spinning, how about trying ultralight for trolling those macs? (Not like i'd be telling YOU how to fish! (lol) Bob R

Hey ya Bob R. I'm always to listen to tips and advise. and I do need tips and advice on some of my fishing techniques. I know when we troll for Kokes, and hook a mack we haven't lost any of them while using the lighter setups, so why haven't I tried to target Macks on lighter gear. Just tunnel vision (or just plain dense) I guess. I will sure give it a try as I kinda have a hard time not wanting to get those things up as quick as possible, and with the lighter setup, I'd have to be more light handed. Hope to get back out on the lake sometime this week-end as Cindy has said she would like to get up early and go try for one. Be my luck to hook into a twenty pound Chinook on the light setup, but Man what a story that would be. Will keep ya posted. Thanks for the comments
