Well, the good news is that my 0 for 6 in Alder is over. The better news is that it is not 0 for 7. I actually caught a fish, today, in Alder Lake. I am still in awe.

Have afternoon appointments so launched the boat at 4:30 a.m. and fishing by 5:00. Seen quite a few fish throughout the day, including 4 in one group that was hanging out in about 3 feet of water. Had 4 bass follow my junk up on different occasions, but they were more curious than interested. Caught a small Smallmouth from under a tree. While fighting it, there were two more following him around. If he went left, they all went left. Kind of funny, actually, and of course, of the three, the smallest one is the one that bit.. Go figure.

Water temps. ranged from 60 to 65.

There is a ton of little fish in there, now, that were not there 3 weeks ago. I could feel some of them tugging on my gear and when I would reel up, there would be about 5 little guys following. Probably a good indication of why I did not do better, ha, but then again, I was there 3 weeks ago, 5 weeks ago, 7 weeks ago...........without a bite.

yea dude.me and my friend paul went there yesterday for about 4 hours.i caught 3 kind of decent size perch in a matter of 20-30 min.then after that nothing.saw a few jump around.but nothing really good.my friend paul caught a small sucker, and one 8 inch trout.i kind of though that lake would hold some decent bass and trout.but it seems there are only little guys out there.but i am sure there is a great method for that lake.witch i am trying to do research on.i think using plastic tadpoles and plastic minnows would work.cause i did see a tadpole.

Glad to hear the drought is over. I was out on Friday and got zeroed. Made up for my day a few weeks ago when I caught a boat load of smallies. Alder is a lake that is so hot and cold. It gives you just enough to keep coming back.

Thom, I am the first to admit that I struggle trying to figure that lake out, but I love the lake. I see so many fish that it is not funny, and big fish. I just cannot catch them. I imagine the day that I really get into them, though, it will be spectacular:)

Also, after writing my report, I seen in the Tacoma Tribune the next day, in the fishing reports for Alder Lake, it said something like 'Plenty of fish but there not biting, reported one angler.' Sounded like my report in a nutshell. Does the TNT take there reports from this web site? Funny:)
