My second cousin and I drove the 3 hours to get to Pierre Lake from Greenacres, Wa. We were very excited to get there, our boss on the farm had given us a good tip on a fishing spot there- at the south end of the lake about 30 ft off shore from the bed and breakfast's dock. It was getting dark when we arrived cause we got held up drinking at Boyds tavern. Set up camp and got a fire going when we decided to take the jet skis out to try our luck in our secret spot. Fly rods in hand, we battled the dark and cold with our flannels and l.e.d. headlamps. I got my first bite around 1 am, and
pulled up what must have been a 12 lb channel cat. My boss was right! I wasnt sure about the catch and release laws on them, so i kept him anyways, good eating after a day full of drinking. My cousin had luck too, using a rapala, he pulled in 2 land locked stingrays in a matter of 2 hours, what a fight! We had never filleted one before, so we just cut them up into steaks with a hatchet and sauteed them with black pepper, butter and paprika. Would have been better deep fryed, taste like chicken, dont eat the tails however, theyre poisonus but our rotweilers sure loved them! It was beginning to get light and our Milwaukee's Best were getting too cold so we decided to get some rest before any game wardens would show up and see that we hadnt paid for overnight camping. Great scenery and great fishing, we'll be back soon with the family!
