Decided to try Medical today and got on the water around 11:00 am. The water was calm with a surface temp of 67° and 61° at 20'.

There were no visible hatches and no fish rising. I began at the South Launch and worked my way toward the aerator with a Stayner Ducktail. I caught only one fish after about 20 min and changed to a black/red chironomid and began fishing vertically in about 25' of water. This produced a very nice 21" Tiger Trout after about 20 min. After another hour with no action I noticed a few damsels flying around and decided to get out my mini-tip line and a damsel patter and work the shallows near the West shore. I caught 4 Crappie, with one being nearly 11" long. No luck however on the trout.

After about 1 hour on the water a Game Warden called me in for a license check.....he had just ticked a gentleman who had a stringer with 2 fish and bait and wanted to assure me that he was looking after the fishery. He seemed like a nice guy and I wish him much success in catching poachers.

So in a little over 3 hours I got a couple of nice trout and visited with the Warden......I guess this evens out some of the good days I've had here this year.......: (

Very nice to hear the game warden is there. Too many people are using bait in that lake!

It's absolutely unbelievable how heavily that lake gets illegally fished....right in the middle of town. Some of you guys may be getting sick of my comments but I assure you, I see it on a near-daily basis. In the last week alone I informed 3 different groups of people, right there on the cliffs, that their bait was illegal. They were OK with my info, thanked me, and quickly left. Why in the hell does the state even print regulations anymore? Kudos to the GW for finally showing up. Here's a tip should a GW read this. Show up early, right there at the cliffs, between 7:00 and 9:00. IF YOU SEE A CAR(S) IN THE PARKING LOT THEN THERE'S A BETTER THAN 50% CHANCE THAT THERE'S POACHING ACTIVITY ONGOING. Ditto for the evening between 5:00 and 9:00. Walk 40-50 yards over the hill and BAM....there they are! P.S. Scooter, Medical has really slowed down for me, too. Only a couple fish in my last few outings and I've noticed the absence of hatches also.

Disregard my previous comments! I told myself I wasn't going to get wound up over Medical's poachers anymore (but failed, as you can see!).

It would seem that if the WDFW posted a couple of signs displaying the regulations on the cliffs it might inform the people who don't know the regulations and provide no excuses for the ones knowingly breaking the law.

I have on several occasions informed people of the regulations on Medical Lake......most of the time they are unaware of the regulations and are appreciative of the information. A few times I have been met with profanity and even once had rocks thrown at my pontoon boat. Posting isn't going to dissuade the ones intent on fishing with bait, however it will keep honest people honest.

Maybe the local fly fishing clubs can initiate the process. I will make a few calls and see if I can find common thinkers.
