Got on the lake early yesterday morning. About 7:30. There was wood everywhere on the lake from the frigid rising river water coming into the lake. We started up lake about 10 miles from the Mossyrock dam and started fishing in about 65ft of water. The silvers (Landlocked coho) were right on top. I put my pink hoochie out about 100ft behind the boat on top and before I could get the rod in the holder, I had a fish on.... I was pumped. Less than 30 seconds into fishing and we had a fish on. We lost it at the boat, but it was a good sign.. or so I thought...I then set it up again and a silver came right out from under the shadow of my boat to hit again. I thought it was going to be slamming fishing. I missed this fish as well because I pulled the hoochie away from it in my shock that it was right next to the boat. LOL. Anyway, the wind picked up hard out of the West and the sky was very high with no clouds.... I fished depths from 8-30 feet with a variety of spoons, hoochies, cut bait, etc. and had no bites for about 4 hours after that. I couldn't believe it. I figured it must have been because of the wind and the high pressure that it shut the fish down. So..... I decided to go back down lake to the Mossyrock Dam area. I was about 2 miles up from the dam out from a large cove and bam.... finally had a hit around 3:00 in the afternoon. Managed to get my first silver in the boat. I caught that one on a nickel plated Needlefish spoon. I then proceeded to check my other rod that I was trolling with only to find out that I had a juvenile silver on that one. I set that rod back out (small yellow rapala) and at a depth of 20 feet and bam 2 minutes later, I got a hit from a nice silver. We got that one in the boat. inside of 5 minutes we got 3 fish after 4 hours of doing nothing. Go figure.

We kept going West towards the Mossyrock dam and the action was consistent and fast finding the fish at 20ft. The weather changed from really windy and high pressure no clouds to cloudy and slightly calmer. I figured the reason the fish bit better was because the barometric pressure dropped which put them on the bite. The fish were plentiful where we started the day, but the good action we found was at the end of the day from 3:00-5:30. We kept a total of 8 fish and lost or let go of another 6 or 7. We would have caught many more, but my motor acted up and I wanted to get close to the boat launch since it was getting late. This was a day where there were many weather changes and persistence won in the end. It was a fun day, but may have been expensive because I may have fried my lower unit on my outboard. I love this lake. We also lost a large trout that I would estimate at 5-6lbs. Line fatigue cost us that fish. It wa a beauty. seeing the eagles and osprey was also a bonus!

Great report Steelhead6438 just to let ya know if you launch at the kosmos launch and go left towards the fishing bridge the silvers are stacked in there like cord wood..lol

Thanks T-Bone. I will try the Kosmos launch next time. It would save me a lot of gas and probably a Lower unit on my outboard as it turns out. I was going to go to the East end of the lake but decided that the facilities and ease of launching the boat at the Mossyrock Park run by Tacoma Power would be easier and less of a truck drive. It was a costly day on my part, but the fishing still wound up good and I love the beauty of this lake. What a place.
