Decided to try some bass fishing down at Union after reading some good reports on here. I'm new to bass fishing and have never caught one, so my methods are questionable. I was directly under the fremont bridge on the north side. Started out using a drop shot 5" senko, Black and White, texas rigged then wacky rigged. That didn't work so tried a green grub also texas rigged. Fished for a couple hours and didn't see anything. Thought I may have had a couple nibbles but it could have just been the weight bouncing along on the rocks. Anyway, any tips or decent spots you guys may have to help me catch some bass would be great. Thanks, Tight lines!

Where you were there,, walk and fish your way going West through the canal. I like the N. side too. In this area I throw crainkbaits. Have done fairly well, not great. The fish have been kind of small for me, maybe 1 lb. I have had friends catch larger fish though in the same area. You can fish it going West like I said for quite a ways. Particularily I like hole just 30' from the bridge on the N. side going West, then as you walk the trail,, look for the Gym. right out from the gym is kind of an area with a metal rainling at waist level. I have hooked bigger fish here, but got tangled up. The opposite side of the canal is good too, along with that you should try the area down at the S. West end,, where they built kind of a little park with a foot bridge. I want to try that area soon.

That's great info Quad, Thanks. How far out should I be casting, it seems to be quite a drop off about 10-15 ft out? I'll definately be back to try and get my first bass.
