Started fishing around 10:00AM. Very few boats on the water which was nice. There were three of us in the boat and we all caught around 3 decent small mouth. I landed a nice large mouth about 2' from shore. Wish I would have brought a scale, but it looked around 5-6 pounds. Made my weekend.

Great job! Those largies are few and far between on Tapps

Awesome. We fished Tapps all season last year and didn't see a single LM. Such a great lake for them. I came to think there wasn't any there. What were you using?

I saw a couple on a bed right at the boat launch a few weeks ago. The carp were tryin to get the eggs though, maybe thats why they are so scattered.

It is surprising how few large mouth are caught on Tapps. Seems like a perfect lake for them. I was using a 4" Senko with solid black and red colors. I have been trying to get away from using plastics the majority of the time, but they seem to work so well for me. My fishing buddies were giving me a hard time for using a Senko, but I noticed they changed from crank baits and spinner baits to plastics after I caught this fish!

A friend and I fished Tapps last year and I out fished him 6 to 1 using a Senko. They really work well when you need to slow things down or for skipping up under the docks. I have also done really well at Tapps using the Yamamoto Hula grub in the same colors you used with the Senko. I'm excited to know there are LM in there, I sure hope I can find a few this year, if the rain ever lets up!
