Well we planned on going out to Silver, read they have a good selection of spiney rays and cats for our next lake to launch our boat, and since we have to have a dock our locations are limited to this one area, and like last time we lauched off the resort for the Armed Forces,

We headed out towards the bouys, getting in the middle of the second and third bouy, set our anchors since the finder on auto was showing us school after school, we opended up the tackles, got the bait set, our depth set kind of, and throw out, for about 30 minutes we had some good nibbles, but not any bites or at least ones we could feel,

By now we are down the lake by the docks owned by people living on the lake, and we started getting not olny hard hits, but ones strong enough to yank the rof right out of your hands, so we knowing we would have to pull anchor and more the boat back up by the bouys, set our distance out and went back im the same area we wasin before, the attack was on,

For the next three hours between my wife and i we missed 30 or more good hard strikes, we cought a total of four rainbow, plus one toni was sure was a german brown, since he jumped ship at port side we do not know,

Our bate this time out was some super soft marshmellows, some semi rotten worms all set on a crappie jig with the color circle, both our line was set below the weight so the mellow will float, the trout loved this and on avergae we was getting 20 bites an hour, our missed are evedent,, one i did catch, did bend my 7' 6" inch light action in half when i was able to snag this one,

All in all, Clear lake is a nice on to boat on, both for pleasure as well as the many activies one can have there,

Question: we have or are using two15 pound navy anchors, a coffee can and a 20 lb mushroom anchor and we still cannot sit in one spot one we are anchored, the two navy go off the stern thhe mushroom off the bow and the small concrete anchor off one of the sides in back, our boat is a 1979 custom built Sea Ray, has a huge top covering the fisherman, and ever with all this to "hold" the boat we can drift almist to the bank where there is individaul docks, what are or missing here, the oringan owners trolled alsot every time they hau heded out or was no way ehr gave them , added tp the fact I cannoy afford gas running a enfince that is YBI

Thank you

I would guess that your not giving your anchor line enough (scope) ... Try letting out more rope on your bow anchor until your line is showing about a 30 degree angle, let the wind ply on the nose of the boat for a couple minutes, this way your stern will be in about the optimal position, then throw out your stern anchor as hard and as far in as strait a line opposed to your bow anchor line. If you cannot get enough scope on your stern line then let the bow line slip, then throw the stern line out and pull up on the bow line until your scope on both anchor lines is about at an equal angle... You should NEVER need to throw out an anchor from the side and in fact in certain conditions can be dangerous! Personally I do not mind swinging on a bow line anchorage as it gives your presentation a little motion and you cover more area always going through the fish you spotted on the electronics, and sometimes that prods them to bite more aggressively... Anchors away my friend, fair winds and smooth sailing to you and yours!
