Andy ran his guys along the same pattern with about the same results as I had. He ran B2 squids firts over the Bar (picked up a nice big fish) then over to Sunnybank. Bar depths are 119 to 135 and Sunnybank depths of 140 to 185. Speed was 1.3 to 1.6 mph. Pretty nice morning for the boys to catch some Mackinaw. Tight Lines, Anton

Anton, can you explain why the Lake Trout actually enjoy the extreme water pressure at the depth you are fishing them, and what do they find to eat at that depth?. Do the Mack's by chance come up shallow at night to chase kokanee or other shallow food around?

Apparently, water pressure doesn't bother them. It's all about the food. They are conditioned to eat Mysis Shrimp from when they hatch. Because of the diurnal migration that the Mysis shrimp do, they are available every day in great numbers for the lakers to eat. If the water temp doesn't exceed their comfort zone, some of them will make foraging runs when there is easily attainable food closer to the surface.

Is there a time of year to surface fish for Mack's?
