I didn't get onto the lake until about 12:30 P.M. Met some friends who were just coming off the lake from having fished from about 7:00 A.M. and all three were skunked. Started slow troll with several egg sucking and minnow patterns without success. As I approached the northwest shore I saw a dragon fly snatch a caddis in mid-flight and munched it down.

Taking a cue from the dragonfly, I tied on a #14 hard-back caddis and tossed it dry towards shore. I took my first Brown at about 2:45 P.M. I took two more 22+ inchers over the next few hours along with a bunch of 8" to 10" rainbows. I worked the shore back up towards the launch and landed a skinny 19-1/2" rainbow just off the grassy point visible from the launch. As this was my first time to the lake, I thought it to be pretty good.

As I was loading my pontoon boat, an employee of the Deception Pass Parks was loading up his river boat onto his trailer. He, like everyone else that day, did not do well at all. He said the water was still too warm and that things should pick up in about 4 weeks as the temperature dropped. Thinking about going back again then.
