Just a couple ordinary average anglers on a new body of water can make for an interesting day. Started out trolling on top, deep, and somewhere inbetween. Picked up one 18" rainbow on a muddler minnow dragged behind a bottom bouncer. After 2.5 hours of this we decided to switch gears. Long story short, the browns in this lake act like largemouth. Put the electric motor down and started the chunk and wind approach. We tossed various jerkbaits that suspended directly over the hydrilla without actually hanging in the tweeds. Real erractic motion would draw the browns out of the grass for a look. Then we would just kinda kill the bait in order to get the fish to strike. Caught 4 nice browns including a fat 21 inch male. These fish were fun to catch, and what a fun way to catch them. Missed a few others of course, but not a bad way to spend the day, even though it was windy and wet. Surface temp was 52 degrees, and all 5 fish had empty tummys. If anyone would like to comment on the actual largemouth in this lake, well that would be swell. Next, hmm let's see...........how about walleye - Kettle Falls?? Sounds good to me!!

Rip,
If you're going to do that you should enter the big Walleye tourney. I hear there's big money prizes there. Don't quote me on this but I believe I saw a poster that said $10,000 first prize. That might even be enough to get an old walley angler turned pike fisherman like me to enter. Happy Fishing

rip, the LMB there are often easier to catch using drop shot at a distance methods. Rig up rubber worms drop shot method, but weedless, toss them to the "inside" of the weedline, and go for it. It is not the normal drop shot method, but it seems to work well there.
