Just got back into town and had to get away already. so i figure i hit spring valley since the ice has melted.Wanted to try out my new baitcaster rod and reel setup so i went not expecting anything. Tie on a crawfish color rat-l-trap lure and starting fishing around the dam and moving west from there. About 2 hours into it, i hook and landed a nice largemouth about 50 feet from the shoreline. it was probably about 2 to 3 lbs. measure it at 17.5 inches long. toss out again in the same area and landed another largemouth bass, this one was smaller, only about 12 inches long. swap lure to a large rainbow trout swimbait and kept working my way west to the reeds around the west side of the lake. Had a major strike that took all the line off my spool. It was a runner, lost my line, but it definitely did not feel like a bass strike. maybe there are still tiger muskie in this lake from previous stocking.
