went down with some fresh jigs i tied the night before. fish'd from 3:30-4:30pm. caught a 15",14",14", and a dandy 19"r. using a small 1/80th oz. white marabou jig with a red head. fish'd slowly jigging near the bottom. the crappie moved back to the deeper water and i have yet to see any other panfish in the shallows yet. still early for them in most of our ponds/lakes as i stopped and looked at several lakes/ponds around "Rock Island" near wenatchee and the Quincy lakes. Stan Coffin, Quincy, Burke, and Evergreen Res., today.

How long is the finished jig? How far are you casting that jig, assuming no additional weight is attached to the line?

The jigs are 1-11/4" long .I use a 9ft pole with 4lb line and cast to 30ft but most of the hits are averaging 15-to 20ft out as the depth drops off very fast starting about 15ft out. the trout cruise this ridge around the lake.

Depending on hook size, I am guessing the 1/80 jig head to be 3/4 of an inch long? So, if you get hits but no hook up's do you shorten the tail or length of marabou? Do you ever float on Myron? Thanks for sharing.

had to short'n one last week as they were really taking it lite and was able to get three but that was a smaller 100th oz jig. I usually fish from shore as i do not have that much time to hall a float around. i do however put on some heavy waders to get an extra few feet out. most every one else are fishing with a float and or spinners but i usually catch more with what i do and i'm fish'n with differnt colors than most. white, pink, chartr, flash. or a combo of them. something that they are not seeing right now. other than the power bait that i'm seeing alot of floating in the water.
