The Natale's of Virginia Beach were kind enough to come out with me for a half day (4 hr) trip. Since they were staying in Leavenworth for the night we started later than normal. We didn't get out until 8:45. Since the sun had already been up for a while I headed to the trench. We fished the venerable U20 Luminous Chartreuse Flatfish off both downriggers and little F7 purple glow flatfish off the outriggers. We fished at 1.5 mph plus or minus .2 mph. Alway trying to stay within 5 feet of the bottom. The deep hole that bottoms out at 246' deep right off of Rocky Point was loaded. There were fish scattered throughout the trench. Like yesterday, the secondary trench with a max depth of 227' right out from Pat and Mikes was loaded with fish too. It started out kind of slow with 1 fish in the first hour and 15 minutes. On the uplake run we doubled and picked up a single to kind of make the day. We then got 2 fish each on the other 2 passes for a total of 8. This just goes to show you that you don't have to be out at the crack of dawn to get fish to bite on Chelan. The thing that made today a 5 instead of a 4 was the weather. It was down to T-shirts by fish cleaning time. That warm sun and no wind felt awful nice after the wind and rain of yesterday. This is a great time to get to the Chelan Valley for some multi-venue fishing. Tight Lines, Anton

Anton, Have you ever fished the upper part of the lake near Stehekin for lakers, and do you do any guide trips in the upper lake? seems like it would be great fishing with the Stehekin River providing another food source, I would guess that there are some very big lakers in that area. Ken

Hi Ken:

We rarely fish up in the Stehekin area. Fishing the upper basin is similar to down below. You just have spend 3 hours + round trip run time. I can get you hooked up with a guide that works that end. Just send me an email at: antonj@aol.com. Anton
