Got the green light from the wife to go to Rufus Woods today!! "REGULATORS MOUNT UP"!!

Got Jake the Snake and Dave aka Mr. Pabst Blue Ribbon to try and our hands at the big trips and savory walligators. Dave picked us up at 6 am and the journey was on. Fought through some freezing fog to get down to the water. Launched the boat at Seaton's Grove and we wanted to go after the Walleyes early. Headed to the island \ bar just down stream to do some jigging. Water was wippin and we tried to get the jigs down but the current ripped the jigs downsteam fast! Well the Walleye journey went quick. Jake ended up hooking a native in the rapids but somehow it shook off the hook set??? Lets get the heck out of here and get after the trout.

We head down to the set of pens down from the Nespelem bar. Lots of boats everywhere. Throw out the anchor, bait the hook, get the music pumpin, Let the Good Times Roll. Just then out of the corner of my eye, I catch a glimps of a Living Legend. World Renown Angler Blufin Loui. It was a sight to behold. Not only did we witness the man, the myth, the legend, but who did we see riding with him in the back but the gorgeous and beautiful Mrs. Blufin Loui. We greated each other and bid good luck. Not 30 seconds later does the iconic yellow trout slaying rod bend in half and Mrs. Loui has herself a hog. Damn she's good!! It's not everyday that you witness magic but I had a frontrow seat.

I cast out and let her drift when nip, nip, nip, whhhiiiippp! Fish on! Ahohhh!! Mothug33 is on the board. Moby fought hard but was no match for these forearms. 8 lbs, no big deal!! Jake netted the badboy like a veteren. Nice work Bro!! Can I get a Yeeeaaahhh!!

Fished hard for several hours with a couple of light nips but no more fish. Shoot. We packed up and headed down 2 netpens and tried there. Got inside the booy line and worked in between the shore and pen. Bang, bang. I get another and then Jake slams one too!! Both fish were in the 5 pound range.
What a day on the water. Foggy at first, then the blue skies opened up. Saw deer, bald eagles, and enjoyed God's Green Earth. Pleasure meeting Mr. & Mrs. Loui. What a class act you guys are!! Thanks to Dave for that killer boat of his. Jake, your my inspiration. Anyone have any tips for me on fishin for Rufus Woods Walleye?? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

Till next time. Keep that hook-set strong by doin 12 oz curls. OUT!!

Editor's Note: report was edited. remember, RW has a two fish limit when fishing with bait, whether kept or released. Even a chunk of worm on a jig counts.

Hey Mike! Why did you edit this report? We only caught 4 fish so I don't know what the deal is. 2 fish per person x 3 =6.

No pictures were attached. If you send them to me mike@washingtonlakes.com I'll add them. The report was edited due to the indication that bait was used to catch the fish and the angler continued to catch fish after the 2 fish limit was reached. The part that was cut out reflected that. I send you a PM...

Hey Mike read it again there was a complete total of 4 fish! You hear that 4 FISH! One was lost tryin to get it to the boat that doesn't count against your limit if you didn't see it anyway? There was 3 people in the boat that means 6 fish! 2 times 3 is 6 isn't it? AreYOU smarter than a 5th grader Mike? Great report Mothug 33 sounds like a blast!

um, you're reading the EDITED report (the little note at the end of the report "Edited Report"). And no, sometimes I'm not smarter than a 5th grader, but thanks for asking. Trust me, I don't edit reports for the fun of it.

Hey ya mothug, great report. Since I did read the reports last night, I have to agree with Mike here. IF I hadn't been on the water WATCHING you guys fish, and seeing WHAT you were using, I would have been under the same impression as stated. Mike is only doing What a responsible host (or whatever his title is ;o) would do in his case. For the person that didn't know you guys weren't hookin worms on every jig cast, it did look like you guys were fishing AFTER you had kept the limit of two (2) fish, by the way your report was written. Since I saw your pink Jig (minus a chunk of worm OR bait), I "assumed" you didn't boat over your limit of RW Trout on bait caught trout. I think it was Jake who was telling me of leaving trout in the water while releasing them while Jig fishing earlier. Now you can see where there are two perspectives on the report. Mike's intention is to always uphold the integrity of the site, which I think he & Aaron (plus the moderators) do pretty good given the number of the reports, so the deleted section was very condeming as written. Anyway, good job out there and I'll have to post a report. Oh and by-the-way, the 12oz curls didn't help with that rod bending bruiser which threw the hook did they. Ya gonna have to work harder. LOL. Stay cool Dude

hey there lipripper5584, chill out my friend. read your post, then re-read it a couple more times. What I'm saying is the way a person words their sentences can be misread by others. When I read it, I thought you were advocating group fishing, party fishing or what ever it's called, where everyone keeps hauling them in untill the max limit is reached. This seems to happen on offshore charters, but the limit is TWO Fish For each Fishermen. You are right when you wrote " There was 3 people in the boat that means 6 fish! 2 times 3 is 6 isn't it?", BUT that is assuming EACH fisherman caught 2 fish EACH for a total of 6 fish. This is what the regs state, so here again, it's necessary to watch the wording of the comments. I'm sure you're smarter than a fifth grader, and would be aware of the rules. So I won't ask you that question. AND by-the-way. I ain't no dummy (even if my spelling is bad), BUT there are some fifth graders that could put me to shame. LOL. There have been posts in the past which have brought critisism, and it was because of the wording. SO everyone. Let's put some effort into conveying our messages by being aware of the way we write it down.
Go out there and catch a big one, and lets see some pics. Enjoy the time on the water.

I've posted a primer in the Off Topic section regarding how/why reports get edited, so we can move the discussion over there and let this report be a celebration of a good day on the water. mothhug33, it really is a great report, thanks and sorry for the swirl of controversy. I hope it doesn't turn you off to posting reports.

No problems here!!! I love and appreciate this website and I am on board with proper wording in my reports. My bad, and I might not write and spell as good as a 5th grader too???? Thanks for your patients and keep up the good work!
