well we did the same trip this weekend as we did last week. not alot has changed in the past week except it is getting noticably colder in the morning. water temp is still around 65*. saturday started off a little slow, with no fish on for the first hour. a front rolled by and we got a little rain about 0930 or so. we fished until about 1500 when the wind really picked up and we called it quites after getting our last and biggest fish. they ranged from 6.3lbs to 3.5lbs. it was a pretty bumpy ride home, but we had a decent limit. quite a little windstorm that afternoon/evening. sunday started out a little faster, with bubba landing this monster bass within 15 minutes or so. first bass we've gotten here. he was a whopping 8", lol. it was very slow catching that morning. with alot of bites but few hookups, and those were dinks. finally about noon, i landed 2 fish back to back within about 5 minutes that were between 3-4lbs, then we headed for the barn and the ride home. still, another good weekend fishing my favorite place.

Where are you fishing on Rufus? I will be going to Bridgeport the 2nd week of October, any suggestions as to where to fish and what to use?

HEY DG: you didn't say if you have a boat or not, but if you do, try trolling along the can line to the left of the ramp at chief jo. then move over to the southern (right) side of the river and troll up to goose tub rocks, accross from the state park. also a few miles upstream on the right, brandts landing area has produced some decent fish. we've been fishing up near the first or lower set of pens. it's a good 30 mile plus run and takes a good hour or so to get there. much closer if you come down from grand coulie. if you don't have a boat, i've caught some nice fish from the bank near the army corps of eng dock near the boat ramp. powerbait on a 24-36" leader should do the trick. trolling, we do best with wedding rings. corn is a good flavor powerbait, but sometimes they are picky. good luck

Thanks daveg for the great reports, and glad to hear of your catches. Those windy rides back down lake sure can be rough at times. Keep up the great reports
