Finaly got back to pepoon with the rubber raft.
Fished with my brother from the rubber raft, not an ideal way to fish, but we made it happen. Fished from 5pm-9pm , was warm and sunny at 5 pm, by 9pm is was frigid cold ! It took us awhile to figure out how to catch them, but after that it was intense.
Spent the first 30 mins just still/drift fishing a night crawler , no luck . I had read a previous report of smallies , so i went to a jig set up , and started working the bottom with a split tail grub , my brother switched to a spinner, and got a small bass , a Largemouth . Moments later I picked up a 12 inch largemouth on my jig. I jigged for the next 25 mins or so and had no luck , my brother wasnt having much luck either, so he switched to a smaller spinner, and started catching fish after fish in the 8-10 inch range. They didnt look stunted , so i decided to go to my normal Largemouth set-up and work my top waters , hoping to catch something bigger. It was slow starting, but by 6:30 , my top waters started to pay off with explosive strikes and larger fish . After my bro gave up on the little ones , I gave him one of my modified jointed rapalas , and he started getting big strikes also, For the next 2 hours it was non stop action, I had one fish come 4 feet out of the water after he missed my topwater , awesome action. Missed some fish I could tell were larger , but did get many in the 12-13 inch range , and a few 14 inchers.nothing huge ... Tough to fish with only oars, and only dug out the camera for one pic, just as proof , haha .
Fun little lake, but not worth the long trip in . We caught between 60-80 fish in about 3 hours. All fish released.
