It has been awhile since the last time we BBs of BL took the time from our impossibly busy schedules to spend some quality time attempting to extract stubborn fish from our newly-crowned FAVORITE LAKE---Williams! But after we finished our honey-do tasks, dusted-off our fishin' poles, got fresh bait, we finally made it out to the lake at sunrise.

We didn't have to re-train the boat; it slipped into the water without hesitation and, without further adoo, we were off, headed straight for Tree 11--- but that was only a Feint--- we were headed for the part of the lake that Bunker's Resort is beside. For the next 5 hours, we trolled. And trolled. And TROLLED (Do you get the idea? We trolled.) Lots of nibblies; no strikes. After about two hours of trolling, eating rice crispies treats (they always have worked before--- when we start eating them the fish start to bite), telling stale jokes to one another... I caught a rainbow trout. Then... another fish was caught. And another... I caught a 15" Lake Trout across from the resort--- quite a fighter, too. The fun thing was: We did not change anything we were doing (although it was on our minds!) but the lake CONDITIONS changed. When we started our fishing this morning, the lake surface was calm and flat; a number of bugs were near the surface AND there was a smear of pollen visible. All about the lake was quiet; calm as we have come to know Williams Lake can be in the early morning. About 2 hours later, a breeze came in and loosened the lake surface. And the ski boats (we are careful NOT to impede their fun!) began to add to the lake surface distortion. And we theorized that it was then that the fish became ACTIVE and started showing interest in our presentations. Before the conditions changed, the fish were merely YAWNING at our efforts to snag them.

Ain't science grand? Imagine--- stuffing a learning opportunity into a great fishing day. My high school biology teacher would've been proud.

We had a lot of fun fishing at Williams Lake. Lots of friendly people fishing on the many docks on the lake; not too many boats were on the lake though. The high-flying osprey residents are the goofiest high-divers--- they smack the water as if they WANT to belly-flop, but they manage to catch their fish dinners, anyway.
