Believe it or not, the Weather Channel's weather forecast has been reasonably trustworthy regardless of what other flyfishermen think. Today I have something to complain about the Weather Channel because its forecast was wrong. Actual wind of 25 mph all morning instead of 10 mph and that is what was wrong. Only three vehicles including mine at the parking lot and one of them was a die-hard dry-fly flyfisherman's pickup truck I had seen before.

Fighting at least 25 mph wind and whitecaps was not any fun, but fishing was. We all were "die-hard flyfishermen" for a day. I did not use any secret fly, but just plain 12-3X olive woolly bugger. Wind gusting and whitecaps got worse and worse over time. My baseball cap, shirts and of course my float tube got completely soaked. 90 minutes of flyfishing was all I could handle. My woolly bugger must have a magnetic personality because I ended up landing five nice bows in just 90 minutes and gusting winds. Combat flyfishing, but it was exciting and awesome.

My question is why would you fish Lenice this time of the year when the water temps are warm, yeah they may have swam away but the bows most likely died later.

I second Xwisconyfisherman. If you're not there to watch the release techniques, then you have no idea.

Xcheesecurd, your a p_ _ _y for saying that. Do you even know how well a rainbow survives in warm temps???????? No you dont the fish may swim away but it has been stressed to the point that it will most likely die. Do some research on the subject YOU morooon. Osmiumfoot ditto to you also. :)

I have read the research and from what your saying maybe no one should ever fish for trout because even when the water is cold some of them still die. You can never have a 100% survival rate. The bottom line is your an idiot for persecuting someone on this site for practicing C&R.

Can't fault a person for fishing a body of water when the regs say it's open. If there was a concern regarding water temps and survival rates, it would be closed during the Summer and open during the Winter. Besides, it is a 100% stocked lake anyway, the fish were planted there to be caught.

Xwisonnie, The survival rate of a trout in temps over 65/68 to 70 etc is low. So you need to do research. Winter time does not factor in.It has to do with the oxygen levels in the upper layers . The fish get really stressed during the fight they build up lactic<sp? in there blood and dont survive well after that. Stocked yes, Quality water YES, Quality waters are most of the time fished by the more caring fisherman. Not many people fish Lenice in the summer months because of the temps. Not trying to be an ass but please read up on this ,thanks. g-man go fish for bass.

TM, water temps have a great deal to do with it. Cold, dense waters hold more oxygen than do warmer waters. Conversely, Summer months are also when the plants and algae oxygenate the water most, it just can't hold it efficiently. This was covered in your basic High School biology class. Right now, during the day the water should be loaded with O2, at night is when the levels drop dramatically. Lenice is setup to be a catch and release type fishery from March 1st through November 30th. If you have a problem with the way the State runs a lake I encourage you to contact them and plead your case. I understand your concerns but if you're not bit more tactful when posting, you're likely to get a different reaction than what you expected. S. Cho, the lake is planted with fish for your enjoyment, as long as you abide by the rules, catch and release as many as you like.

G man, I would go and check your findings. The warm water in the top layers are low in oxygen. Thats why the fish get stressed so much. There is plenty of info ,go check out some of the other forums out there. My neighbor is also a biologist with the wdfw and I got alot of info from him. Also Lenice is 1 fish limit. Or catch and release. If you keep one you gotta quit. I have been fishing that chain for 17 years. Like I mentioned before you wont see to many people fishing there in the summer. Not because the ticks or snakes etc. It is because the water temps are to HIGH and it hurts the fishery. I'm done with this thread.

Glad to hear it Trout Master. Please people, let's all refrain from the ***** and p____y and any other methods you want to use to curse out another member. Sometimes I wonder why anyone posts stuff at all when guys are ready to jump all over you. It's legal to fish, end of discussion. If you want to start a thread on the Forums about C and R of trout in warmwater conditions, by all means, do so. It will be seen by a lot more members and we can have a spirited debate without making someone who posted a fishing report wish they hadn't. Thanks.
