Got to Rock Lake early, finding it about a foot lower than the high water mark. There are three launch points, two very steep banks to the South and one more gentle bank to the North. The South banks are 4-Wheel drive only but the water appears a little deeper for launching. The North bank had just enough depth to launch my 18' boat (maybe a couple of inches to spare). At any of the three launches, there is a drop off at the end that could catch an unsuspecting owner's trailer if backed too far; watch out!

As for fishing, I hammered the bass. Think crawfish, their primary forage in this lake, and go from there. Most of the fish were sub-12", but I did catch several bass over 12" and one bass was lost at the boat that was +/- 5 lbs. As for the trout, I did not fish for them and none of the few boats that I saw had caught any. The surface temperature was 75 degrees. My depth finder did locate may fish down at about +/- 18'. It would be a good idea to locate the thermocline with a digital temperature gage and fish just above or in the thermocline for the trout. Look for the steep cliffs to provide shade for most of the morning.

Remember the difficult launching point, but enjoy the fishing.
