Well this report is a bit late and I haven't got the pictures. Hopefully I'll get the pictures on here soon. Anyway my bother and sister in-law dropped in unexpectedly on the third, which was great. We got out fishing late on the fourth around 4:00 pm and fished until about 7:30 pm. I haven't see or heard of anyone really killing the trout on RW lately so I took him Walleye fishing instead. It would have been great getting him into a big trip but I wanted to feed him his first walleye as I believe them to be the second best tasting freshwater fish. (can't beat sturgeon) Anyway he'd never even see a walleye before but has constantly heard myself and our brother in-law talk about how good they taste. So to the report. We fished for about 3 hours and actually did better thann usual. We usaully catch 2 to 4 keepers. But on this day between the four of us we caught 8 keepers the smallest being 16 1/8 and the lasrgest going 20 plus. Of course since it was mine my oldest read it at only 17 inches. the other 6 were 17 to 18 inches. And unlike Banks or Roosevelt these fish had some meat on them. As my brother caught two of these he was pleased. Hopefully I can get him back up here in the spring as that is when I do my best Trout fishing on RW. ANyway we used home made worm harness. Green and a comb pink/blue worked for us on this day. Well green always works. I love to hear more from others who catch walleye on RW's.

the short time I fished walleye in michigan I nailed them on wr or worm harnesses. they work awesome.

i've been wanting to try for walleye here. been hearing how good they taste. can you give me an idea what area to fish for them on rufus? any tips would be appreciated...thanks

Well Dave we fish mainly there by the pens and some drifting the west side of the river from about 3 miles up from seaton grove down to it. At the upper pens we drift either side of the river. We use mainly bottom walkers with worm harnesses. pink/blue and white combo, or green and red combo are our best hits. Up river or during cooler months we pick up quite a few trips. In fact when they are biting on them down at the upper pen area they hit them with out worm. That's the trips that hit them without worm. Four of us caught those eight in about 3 hours give or take. So we don't catch a lot but So we all are keepers. i'm hoping to get down there on my next set of days off. Also drift or troll as slow as possible. Well at least that's what works best for us. nice. thanks t for the info. i've seen people drifting near the pens and figured they were after the trips. actually, we've been using home modified wedding rings and even the double whammy for our main trout killers lately. seems to work fairly well. it's been a little slow as of late, but we're managing to get a few decent ones each trip. can't wait for my first walleye! green seems to be the color of choice. shoot, 8 keepers in 3 hours or so ain't too shabby. thanks again.
