Lady and I hit Kachess around 9am for a couple of hours. Had 12 hook ups in that time, landed 7. There small, all consistantly small. We were down rigging at about 40 - 45' in water that was over 100' deep (at the north end of the lake). She was using a single hook green wedding ring with red powerbait; I was using a red double hook wedding ring with red corn. Pretty much split the hook ups, so doesn't seem to make much difference.

Saw some larger fish hanging around 150', but didn't have enough line on my light rod to get down there. Next time.

Lake's up. Used the North State launch; steep, easy.

Here's a link to the lake levels for all of the reservoirs in the Yakima Basin. It includes river and stream flows as well. http://www.usbr.gov/pn/hydromet/yakima/yaktea.html

Was over there on the 28th at the north end. Saw a large crown of a tree submerged with 1000s of minnows just hanging around and under them about 30 very large trout cruising through. Had them turn and look at a Rooster Tail even a swipe or two but no hits. We were just casting from the bass boat but saw several very large (I would guess at least 20"ers) cruising through.

What is the launch like at the south end of the lake? How rough, will I need a 4 x4 to launch my 14 ft boat? I have only used the campground launch.
Thanks for any advice.

treeski,

We used the south launch of the Campground. It's paved and is easy to launch from currently. I usually launch from Via Kachess (community launch). Is there another one at the far end of the lake?? that I am not aware of?
