You see that this post says these fish were caught in Cda Lake. That is only because I can't figure out how to post as a secret lake. They were not caught in CDA Lake. The locations I have been fishing are by no means secret places. They are however getting busier and busier every year, so the fewer people that go there, the better chance I have of not finding someone in my favorite spots. All season long I have been finding fish in the cabbage. They have been very aggressive and have a particular liking for black spinnerbaits with a chartruse trailer. I always use a trailer hook. I have had way too many strikes come up empty with just the main hook. Yesterdays pattern found most of the fish holding on the very stringy weed mats. I fished over and around them and the fish would come from the deep water side and NAIL the bait. Chatter baits have also been good to me this year. The pike in this post is from yesterdays trip 8lb 12oz. The bass was form last week 5lb 2oz. he had a fondness for a black buzzbait. My brother aka Drumdog and I have had a very good year pike fishing. No monsters though, with the largest fish to date being 11lb 4oz. I apologize for not disclosing the actual location, but I have been refining my techniques and locations for many years and it would really suck if I showed up to fish and had to dodge more boats than I already do. We all have those spots that we love to fish and don't want to give up. Happy Fishing.
