I met up with "Returnofthefish" (John) at Bitter lake. This lake is usually such a no-brainer for rock bass. We started of trolling and casting a 3" green grub that I like. John had a couple of hits on that, but no hook up. I wasn't getting any action. I kind of kept with that, because it is my go-to rig for the rock bass. I had caught a descent largie a few weeks ago on a wacky rigged green 5" Senko............ so I rigged that up and started tossing it to the very edge of the lillies. In a moment I hooked and boated a 12-13" largie. I was extatic to have something besides a rock bass. A little while later I threw it again at the pad edge, and suddenly it was FISH ON. This fish felt GREAT. He peeled line off my reel, and made multiple runs for the lillies.
I had lost fish to the structure before, so I tightened that drag down a little and brought him in for a photo and release. Had a good time meeting a new member and fishing with Returnofthefish, and look forward to hitting Cassidy together soon.
