Fished Lake Wilderness for the first time, targeting bass with no luck. This is one of the clearest lakes in Washington I have ever fished. I could see the bottom of the lake in 15 feet of water. I found 3 large bass in the 4-6 pound range suspended over a sunken tree in 20-24 feet of water. I through everything in my tacklebox, including, spinners, jigs, plastic worms, lizards, crawfish, rapalas, and several topwater lures and they wouldn't hit any of them. They would swim within 3 feet of they boat and stare at me, acting like they were protected or something. Does anyone have any tips for me on how to get these friendly bass to bite. Overall, fishing was very poor today, however, I know there are some big bass in this lake and I will give it a try again soon.

up the size of your baits maybe and try and be stealthy and not let them see you. 10" worm maybe or a buzzbait or swimbait or chatterbait could get them to strike. You didn't mention what colors you where using , could be something as simple as a color change. Keep at em =) . I've been using larger baits with a fast retrieve lately and its been working for me. Hope this helps.

BucketMouthCatcher, thank you for the tip. I did try some larger baits (8" worms, 5" rapalas, 3" jigs, etc.) and some different colors (chartruese, pumpkin seed, shad, blue, black, purple, white, etc.) however, I was fishing them very slow. Next time I will try the fast retrieve approach and make sure I am not visible to the fish. Thanks again!!
