After having a few bad outings at Union (small and few fish), my luck paid off on this one. Got a late departure, 8:15pm lines in the water at Union. Started working a chartreuse 1/4 oz spinnerbait. 2 small dinks, both under 10 inches were all I could muster up within 45 minutes fishing shallow rocks...Threw them back and shortly after 9pm I decided to change up my rig to find some better quality fish.

Went with a 1/4 oz football head jig with a 4" double tail Yamamoto grub in a brownish color. Fished that a bit deeper, and started crawling/swimming that thing across the bottom so that it was tapping the rocks and gravel down there. First 3 casts yielded 2 nice smallmouth in the 1.5-2lb range. Spent some time working that rig, from about 9:10pm until about 10pm. Total tally was 4 landed, missed 2 more, all fish around 1.5-2lbs. Nothing huge, but good fun on a trout rod with light line. Fish were released of course.

It was a nice evening to get some fishing in. No pictures, sorry, I'll snap a few next time.
