This was one of 3 stops on a fishing excursion in some of my old stomping grounds. Lost Valley Reservior near New Meadows has been a very good trout fishery for years and I found it as good as I remember.
We got on the water at about 5:30am. The surface temp was 68° and it was reading around 60° at 15 to 20'.
This water is known for some sizeable Kamloop hybrids as well as good catches of Rainbows. We began with the tired and true Stayner Ducktails on sink tip lines. We began working the south shore weed lines (over the old river bed before it was a reservior). We both had fish on by the second cast. It went on this way for the next 5 hours. We had at least 25 fish apiece and another 5 or so hooked and lost. We only caught a few over 20" on this trip with most of the fish in the 17 to 19" range. We saw a couple of other fishermen catch a few in the 25 to 30 inch range.
Tight Lines!
