Made the hour drive to Gissberg for some catfish action. I was there from 6-9pm after fighting traffic. I used stinky catfish baits on a slip egg sinker set up. Thats what the package recommended. I didnt get any bites, so I rigged a bottom fishing set up on it with nightcrawlers.
I didnt get any strikes on that either.

Since it appeared that everyone there was fishing for trout, I decided to fish for trout too. I had a 4.5 ft leader with white gulp eggs. I had 2 nibbles, but that was it. Since bait fishing wasn't working, I started to go with lures. I casted a 10 to 3 o'clock pattern at every fishing spot on the north shore of the south pond. No bites again.

I spent most of my time where the inlet between the two ponds are.The winds were coming from the north and pushing the water towards the south lake. I casted into the current most of the time. I thought it would help better disperse the scent of the bait I was using, Any body know how to catch catfish out of these ponds?

I was at Gissberg earlier in the year. I fished the south lake on the north east corner and caught 10 plants tossing a white rooster tail spinner. They were small and all but 1 was released. If you are there again, try a white rooster tail. Thanks for your report.
