My friend Gary and I just spent 3 days fishing for walleyes on Potholes. I would love to report that we had a great trip and caught lots of fish. Unfortunatly the fishing was pretty tough.
We fished hard for probably 30 hours and only caught 2 fish. Both were nice fish, 21 inches but 2 fish in 3 days was pretty disappointing.
We fished most of the time in Crab Creek but also tried over by the Big Dune and ran down to Lind Coulie on Friday afternoon. The fish we caught were from Crab Creek and were both caught in the same spot a few minutes apart. They were both caught useing Walley Pops with nightcrawlers, which is what we used most of the time. (maybe that was the main problem).
Anyway, we had a great time in spite of the poor fishing. The weather was decent, not too hot, a little breezy but that kept the bugs at bay. We will look forward to returning to try again.

old gray. I fish the "slot" out in the dunes often this time of year. It gets tough when there are so many small, 2" young of the year perch and baby bass in the water that the Walleye are pretty well fed on the Res. I switch to pulling a # 5 perch shad rap rapala or a # 7 perch floater rapala with a 1/8th oz slip sinker 2 ft ahead of it. Don't despair, later in the summer the bite should pick up again on Potholes. The Jigmiester

Jigmiester, Thanks for the helpful comments. I'll be sure to remember them next time I get over there. Sure do love eating Walleye. Old Gray
