I gave Medical my best short yesterday for 4 hours, from 10:00 to 2:00 with nothing to show for it....nothing, notta, zip, not a single take! Surface water temp 74, winds from the SW at 10 MPH. Started on the south end where I fished 25-26' feet of water with full sink line, chironomids and various nymphs. In the 2 hours I was there I marked only 4 fish, all at 17-18' down and saw only 2 rises. To what I don't know, for there was no noticeable hatch whatsoever.

Headed to the north end at noon where there's usually more fish. Sure enough, my fish finder show dozens of fish, most at 10'. These fish, rainbows at that, were sporadically rising to some small olive midges that were coming off. This stumped me, for I really anticipated the fish to be deeper, and I came armed with two sink lines, a type IV and VI. I tried unsuccessfully to fish shallow and target these fish, but really needed a floating or sink tip to do it. Oh well, that's why it's called fishing and there's always Amber Lake to heal a bruised ego!!!

Would it be worth to try fishing early morning or late afternoon?

Raff,
As you know I've been humbled by Medical in the past. I don't know where the fish go in that lake. I have been there where I won't mark a fish all day....not one.

Good luck at good ol Amber
