Got off work early on Wed evening, Hooked up to the boat, and wife and I headed to Wapato to check out the water for a couple hours. First time on lake this year. Water temp was 60-63F and weed growth wasn't as advanced as usual for this time of year. Saw several Perch following the baits (1/16 oz jigs with various baits in various colors, but the bite was slow. Wind was strong enough to make the lake choppy, but not too rough. We ended up bringing home 8 perch ranging from 9 1/2 - 10 1/2 inches (a good mess for two people). All of them were spawned out. Caught a few "Small" crappie and bluegill, and didn't see very many bluegill as we searched the lake. Saw one bass boat, and a couple of troutsters, but fishing pressure was light this evening.
While checking out the toulies, we saw several LMB in the 3lb+ range, and caught several up to 10 inches. Alge bloom on the north end of lake, and fillament (sp) moss also to make it difficult to keep the bait clean. Will have to try later when more weed growth is present.
Tight lines all.
