Decided to go out to Williams on Saturday.
Loaded in at around 7:00 am. There were quite a few boats on the water fishing and recreating. I worked my way from the public launch along the weed line along the SE bank.
Air Temp: 53° Water Temp: 61° (Surface) and 55° at fifteen feet. Breeze turning to strong breeze later in the day from the SW.
After about 30 minutes without any action I changed to a Stayner Ducktail. I began to catch fish immediately with the Stayner. Over the next hour or so I landed 7 fish including one 22" hog Rainbow and 2 nice 16" Cutthroats.
A pretty strong hatch of large mayflies came on about 9:00 am and I changed to a size 14 brown Teeny nymph under a indicator. That worked pretty well for the next hour with another 5 fish hooked and 4 landed (including a 14" Tiger Trout!).
The wind came up and the indicator stopped working so I changed to a Six Pack after seeing a few damsel flies moving around. I worked the Six Pack along the weed line on my way back to the launch and landed 3 more (all Rainbows).
All in all a pretty good day dodging trollers and jet skies at Williams
Tight Lines!
