Camped and fished at the Fishtrap Lake Resort. At this resort, there is a fishing dock and you can rent small aluminum boats with and without motors ($20 - $40).

For me, the dock was slow. I didn't see anyone else with anything spectacular, either. Matter of fact, I didn't seem many boaters with a nice catch, either. While I was bottom fishing (my first 30 minutes there), I did manage to land a healthy sized perch (using worms and power bait), and I regret throwing him back. I never got another chance to cook something up.

I switched to spinners. Nothing for a long time. Then, just as I was about to head back to camp (cause my fellow campers wanted me back for dinner...), I finally hooked a nice sized trout! It was now about 9:30 at night. I was using a 1/16 oz glow in the dark spinner with yellow feather-tail. I was using my ultra-light gear. I let him fight for a little while.... we went from one side of the dock to the other. I was getting nervous, cause he made three attempts to make his escape under the dock. I knew he wasn't tired, but I didn't want to lose him as a result of getting hung up on the dock. I was panicking. It was basically dark. I couldn't see a whole bunch. Next time he was in the clear, I was determined to land him. So, my chance arrives... he's back out of the open... I tighten up my drag and reel him in close. Just as I was reaching out to grab the line (again, why didn't I bring a net)... just above the water line, the fish was flapping back and forth for all he's worth and .... Splash... he was free. Rats.

Moral of the story. Take a net!
