I've always wanted to fish Tapps, but I know nothing about the lake or where to start. If a guy were to hit Tapps for the first time, what would be your advice? I'm gonna try and pull up some maps to see if I can locate these spots your talking about. The only experience I've had with Tapps is golfing on Tapps Island years ago.

Check out ,features ,lake maps, Lake Tapps on this site. It gives you a pretty good idea on where to find fish. Nice job Denman. I've been lighting up the smallies as well. mostly dinks though. Had a few musky follows this year with no hook ups. I know of some jumbo 50+ caught on Tapps this year already.

Denman - Lets get together and fish for smallies. I don't know the snag island area too well, but am pretty well versed on many other areas. If you ever need a back seater, let me know.

I checked out the map attached to the info page on Tapps, very nice whoever took the time to make the map with all the locations. Tapps is sounding like one of the better bass lakes on the west side, is this true? Does it get alot of fisherman? I seem to remember alot of watersports going on in the summer out there.

It's a large lake (45 miles of shoreline) and it can be overwhelming sometimes on where to go. Once you find fish, and sometimes it takes some exploring, stay around that area. Look for rocky bottoms with quick drop offs. For Muskie, fish the drop offs in the early spring, then as the water warms, move in closer to shore in 6' water. I went out again last night to the same spot I killed 'em the day before and nothing. They moved off somewhere else. I checked around dike 10 also but no fish. Subaru: I'd be happy to hook up with you sometime...you get a babysitter yet? LOL f1sh: launch at the county park, this way, you're on the north end of the lake to begin with, and you won't have to waste gas motoring all the way up there. There are fish in the south end, don't get me wrong, but I've found better bottom structure around the Marina area. Take a left out of the launch and fish around the dikes. (they're clearly marked) 9-12 is a good area. It should be good fishing this weekend..watch out for jet skiers...some are nutjobs!

I'm new to this site and I love all the postings and reports. I also fish Tapps quite a bit and do pretty well on the south end of the lake. Don't know to much about the north end of the lake. Any advise?
