West Medical Lake. This was the first time that I've been to this lake. I found a nice day use park area with plently of space for bank fishing. This day use park (at the southern end of the lake) had a small boat ramp, too. There was also a fishing dock nearby that apparently had boats for rent, but I couldn't tell if the dock attendant was actually there today (nobody was fishing from the dock). Today's weather produced short periods of sun followed by short periods of cloud cover with a constant cool breeze. Everyone was catching fish! The guys next to me must have had a dozen fish on their stringer when they left.

I used my ultra-light rig with 4lb test line. I decided today to try out something that I haven't done for years (why I don't know)... I rigged up with two hooks (size 6, I think) with worms on both. I was able to land two nice sized pan-fryers. Two others gave me a fight, but I lost both... first round with the one that got away, my line snapped as a result of my overtightening the drag... second round... I had switched to a 1/8th weighted panther martin spinner to round out the day... my second throw into the lake with the spinner caught the attention of a fiesty fish, he fought and fought (I was too worried about overtightening the drag, so I let him fight) then he fought so much that he made a bee-line straight to some underwater debris and downed tree branches. Needless to say, that fish had an escape plan, and it worked!

All in all, two thumbs up for West Medical Lake! I had a blast!

Glad to hear you had some fun! In order to fish on the dock where you can rent a boat, I was told about a week ago by the guy that works there that it costs $4.25/day.
