My buddy Mark and I hit the water about 6:00 a.m. in the trusty Fisher aluminum on our annual West Medical trout hunt. We started out trolling original rapalas. Mark was using last years rainbow two inch and I had the black and white also in two inch size. Mark hit the first rainbow at about 6:30, fat little 12 incher. He proceeded to out fish me by landing two more by 10:30 one of which was a 17 inch stud that gave a darn good fight. He started feeling bad so at around noon I finaly landed a 12 incher on his pitty pole (thanks buddy). The bite died down from one to about five. During that time I thrue on eveything I had to troll with including getting the downriggers going but no bites. Evening time the fishing was on, we started spincasting near the washout banks on the eastern shoreline, Mark using a two inch spoon caught one more twelve incher. I tied on a green 3/8 oz roostertail with a gold spoon and rattled off three rainbows and a seventeen inch cutthroat within an hour. The reports that I have red on this lake havent been the best this year, but if you keep at it and find the spots and what there biting on you to will have awesome and productive day. Good luck!

Sounds like you had an awesome time! I hit that lake today and had a blast. Fished from shore. Landed two. Two others gave a good fight. For one that got away, I used a 1/8 oz panther marten spinner (green and pink). Thanks for sharing your info on the 3/8 oz rooster tail.

Happy fishin'!
