Fished W. Medical from 10:00 to 2:00. Arrived to find it windswept and white-capped due to SW winds at 20 MPH and even stronger gusts. Headed to the relative calm and safety of the west side, near the fenced-in pump station. Surface water temp 56. Fished chironomid patterns in 8 feet of water. Slow going from 10:00 until 11:00, with only 2 fish to net, despite an ongoing hatch. At just after 11:00 things got started. 20 or so more fish, all rainbows, on size 16 black and red zebra midges, despite a constant battle with the wind. Lots of small fish today in the 10-14" range and only a half dozen at 16-18". Several others lost.

Hello, nice report, I am new to this site but I have seen several of your informative posts. I live in Port Angeles, which makes the journey to Spokane a good long one. But your reports from W. Medical make it sound worthwhile to swing by if I make an extended trip to the eastside. I was wondering if you have fished Chopaka this year, and if so, how was it fishing? Again, Your reports are excellent and much appreciated. Thanks Larry
