Launched at the Spokane House at about 10am. Got a late start thanks to Scooter Simchuck. Ran down across from Nine Mile resort where we started catching smallies, and squawfish, then moved all over the lake. We got fish on Crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and jigs. We put 20 fish in the boat by 5pm and then ran from the weather. All fish were in fairly shallow water, 2 to 8 feet. Only one large mouth on the day. He went just over 2 lbs. I say, "If you aint gonna eat em, who cares if it's just a Squawfish"? They fight like crazy. I practice catch and release. I just release the squawfish in a diffrent spot than they came from. Up on the bank! All in all a fun day on the water. Thanks for going Scooter.

Very cool.....I got to the water at 6:20pm last night and it started raining as I got my first cast off. By 6:30 the rain stopped but the wind was terrible. I actually ended up skunked by dark. I have been getting a few over the past couple weeks. Mostly smallmouth but an ocassional Largemouth. I have been tossing big crank baits hoping to find a pike but to no avail. I dont really think there is a strong pike population in Long Lake. Thanks for feeding the coyotes and racoons....lots of laughs. Hey, have you seen the family of river otters on the lake? Very fun to watch! Anybody catch any crappie out of Long lately...where are they?

I have not heard of any crappie being caught yet. I didn't find any significant weed growth and when I find Long Lake crappies, they are usually in the weeds or trees. I targeted only bass on this trip as I have seen photos of a smally over 6lbs that came from the tourney last weekend.
