Went over to Banks from 5/7/09 to 5/10/09 with a group of people. We got there about 10am on the 7th and after getting checked into the hotel we got on the lake about noon. We ran to Steamboat first and I hit a 3lb smallie on my first cast. We spent the rest of the day running all over the lake. Found a rock pile on my side imaging unit so we sat on that for an hour or so. My kid and my buddy caught 4 off of it all around 3lbs. Friday was the best day we had we ended up catching 12 smallies and 2 really dumb trout. I also caught my first Banks Largie that went 3lbs. Saturday was dead we managed 2 fish all day one that my buddy caught was 4 pounds. Then today we got up and were on the water at 6:30am. We fished for 3 hours and I caught 8 smallies one going 4lbs and a bunch of little ones and another stupid trout. Water temps were anywhere from 44 to 51. The wind kicked our butts on Thursday but the rest of the time was calm and in the mid 60's. Everything but the 3 off of the rock pile were caught on crankbaits. All fish were released to spawn and so I can go back and catch them in July. Good luck and tight lines to everyone this season.
