My fiancee had some buisness to attend to in Ellensberg so it made a perfect opportunity to toss a lure for a couple hours on Fiorito pond right off the Highway. I arrived to find a couple of old timers catching some decent planter rainbows on chart/powerbait to 12" up at the far south end of the Largest Lake, where the water flows into the southern most pond. I decided to try for some Largemouth bass by casting a small profile willow leaf white Booyah spinnerbait. I had no bites on that lure, but I had at least two followers. So switched over to an off white Calcutta triple tail grub on a 1/16th oz jighead.
My first cast along the tree line yielded an 11 inch Largie. I continued down the bank, casting and slowly retrieving the grub. Several smaller bass took it too. I switched to a pumpkin colored Robo worm on a black 1/32 oz jighead and immediately started getting more bites and fish. I finally hooked up with a Largemouth about 15" that took me into the sticks along the bank, and after a few tense seconds, I lipped a very fat and sassy egg laden female bass. I took a pic with my Kodak disp/camera and let her go. The bite died down the further north I went.
I slipped on a 3" Brownbug colored hellgemite jig and began making long casts into the deeper water along the mid bank My 5 1/2 Lamiglass ultralite suddenly bowed over as big brooder Rainbow hit my jig going away and after about a 3 or 4 minute fight, I landed a 24" buck rainbow with a hooked nose. I walked over to a bearded fellow named Bob and offered him my fish. He was pretty happy to oblidge and marveled at the plastic bait the fish tried to eat. My girl called soon after that, so I had to leave, but I left satisfied, and I made a nice fellow happy. TJM

That sounds like a lot of fun. I've been reading your posts over the last couple of weeks. I live here in Yakima now and love hitting the gravel pit ponds along I-82 from Eburg to Zillah when I have 20 or so minutes or need a break from work. I had 30 minutes today and walked in to Rotary Lake. Having never been there it was fun to get some excercise and catch several crappie. Thanks for your posts they've helped me learn a few new tricks with micro jigs.

Dream. I love this site because I have met guys like bluefin loui and got to go make some fishin' memories! I moved over here from the Basin where fishing Potholes and Moses, Banks and others was in my blood. I have an unique jig fishing system that produces awesome catches of fish for me. (It's where I got my nickname-The Jigmiester) Loui and I learned a lot from each other and I enjoy sharing tips with guys like him. I'm not sure where Rotary Lake is....But if theres crappie there, I would love to hook up with you and give it a shot. You guys are lucky to have such amazing fishing spots on your side of the mountains. I'm completely jealous. We have decent lakes over here, but nothing in comparison to the warm waters you get on your side!

Great report Jigmiester, You know how to jig em, and I love the way you catch larger fish on the "Small" jig heads. It works well. Your techniques are the result of lots of experimention (read research), and the fruits of your labor are in the Bent rod. Keep on jigging them my friend. Hey SnohoBassGuy, as they say " the grass always seems greener on the other side of the fence". I look at all those bass (green surroundings)and saltwater pics, and it makes me drool with envy. Fish on and stay safe out there.
