Fished all day Saturday. Bright sun to hazy overcast. Fished for smallmouth at first, but had little luck (water temps at about 50 degrees). Moved to Kokanne, and they were abundant and feeding. They were rising (feeding) all over the lake from sun up till the weather moved in.
Fly fisherman would have been fun, but we are lowly gear slingers, so...
The brass spoon seemed to work best at around noon, and the green colors seemed to work better a little later. Had non-stop action with any combination of the following: pop gear, dodger with wedding ring, or a lonely wedding ring. All were tipped with Berkley maggots. These were trolled at about a mile an hour at anywhere from 20-70 feet behind the boat. (Shallow.)
Great day, and a fine camp site on the northeast end of the lake. Launched from the beach there no problem, but you will want a 4x4 there. (There is a great launch on the east side of the lake.)
There were very few boats, and still too cold for the water skiers.
Kudos to the Kwik Stop in Loomis. Good people, good coffee, good bisquits and gravy, and good prices.
