All's well that ends well. It was a slow start in the trench trolling for Macks and Chinook. We found them in the indeterminate flat between Rocky Point, Minneapolis and the Bar and the bite was on. Depths of 180 to 210 feet seemed to produce the most fish. Once we found the biters, the lure didn't seem to matter much. We caught fish on U-20 and T-4 size flatfish in both Luminous Chartreuse and Purple Glow. We also caught fish on wide-bodied spoons like Rushin' Salmon Wobblers by Critter Gitter and whole green label herring rigged to spin. Ace-Hi Flies baited with strips of herring were also productive. Speeds of 1.4 to 1.6 mph were most productive. Most of the fish came within 5 or 10 feet of the bottom. We also had an evening kokanee trip. The area around Lakeside is still the hot location. The kokanee will start to really spread out in the next week or two throughout the lower basin. The kokanee liked an attractor combo of either a 0000 or 000 chrome dodger in front of Mack's Lures Flashlite. That attractor pulls a Mack's Lures Kokanee Pro Wedding Ring baited with Pautzke's Fire Corn. We fish these from 1.2 to 1.8 mph about 15 feet down over depths that vary from the 30's to the 50's. The bite really came on when the sun came out and the breeze died. When it got cloudy and breezy the bite died. It is a great time to fish the Chelan Valley.
