I woke up at 6am to head out on pine on opening day this morning. But since I got drunk last night I went right back to sleep. I woke up at 8 and loaded up the boat and headed out. Got there and of course the place was packed. No parking spots and the whole dock was full. So I went out on Beaver for a bit and caught one. Went back to pine about 11 or so and found a spot to park. I went out for a bit without my anchor but realized that I needed it so I went back in and got it from my truck. I noticed a fish and wildlife agent asking people questions. I headed out trolling the whole lake with a pink wedding ring and half a worm, Caught a few. Kept one. I came back in to go home. I docked my boat on the shore and went to get my truck. I came back and an older man holding a fishing pole told me that I was supposed to have a life jacket on my boat. I told him how I hadnt bought one yet and he turned out to be a FISH AND GAME AGENT working in plain clothes holding a broke down fishing pole as a cover. He gave me a $87 ticket for fishing without a life jacket. Him and another Fish and game agent were working "under cover" trying to bring in some revenue to keep there jobs. They didnt even drive there work trucks to the lake as I did not notice them in the packed parking lot. Wherever you are fishing beware of guys jsut standing on shore with a pole that either has no line on it is broke down or you never see him throw a line in the water because I can garuntee they are Fish and Game. First and last time I will ever fish Pine lake.

I know it sucks but there only looking out for you,i was warned fortunatley so i know now .I believe you also have to have a throw cushion or pad too,BUT they dont need to go undercover to catch fish in a barrel, there easy to come by.

Sounds to me like you had it coming. Fish and Game enforcement are out there for many reasons; one of which is to keep people safe. That would include having a life vest. Whether he was "under cover" or not, if you had followed the law, you wouldn't have gotten a ticket. You clearly knew you should have had one, but chose not to buy one. Anyway, I and other fishermen on this site welcome the site of Fish and Game agents because they catch people who choose not to follow basic rules when it comes to hunting and fishing. The "revenue" you claim goes to keeping their jobs actually goes to much more important things like funding public access to otherwise unaccessable lands/lakes, improving boat launches, and other similar benefits that you, I, and other outdoorsmen like to use.

Thank you, Clearcut, for breaking the law and "donating" $87 to public use!!!

Aaron,
Ol' ClearCut has changed his # from 23 to 24 and has sent me a few nastygrams to my inbox. I forwarded them to you via the "contact" button at the bottom of the page. Please look into it. It's amazing to me how a few idiots can give all of us outdoorsmen a bad name. . ..He's a perfect example of why the "anti's" can't stand hunters/fishermen.
