Two buddies and I got the boat wet about 10:00 am at Blue Heron and headed 12 miles north to the Rocky Ford arm. Dragged bottom walkers and worms for a couple of hours in 5' to 6' of water. One yellow-belly cat about 2.5 lbs and a couple of hits. Water temp was only 54. Drove boat around to the fill on the other side of the peninsula (Crab Creek inlet.) No one was catching anything there. We actually went under the roadway up to the train trestle and tried floating the Crab Creek channel but the water temp was only 48 there. We saw some kid lose a fish that he had hooked on power bait. Went back to Cascade Park, nothing there. Tried the shoreline across from the state park using jointed divers, lost one good fish that felt like a bass and landed a carp that I hooked in the dorsal fin. It was over 10 lbs and was a pain in the butt to get in. Went under the freeway and trolled jointed divers along the shoreline across from the net pens, had a couple of hits. Parked boat off freeway fill across from net pens and wiggled worms around in rocks. CR one 16" smallmouth and had a few worm robbers. Water needs to warm up some before the walleye strike is on.
