Blah. That about covers it.
Seriously, why was today so frustrating? First off, we knew where the fish were. All the large bass are right where they should be this time of year. Holding tight under the right docks. You can see them for yourselves. The water was already to 51 degrees at 10:00A and, unfortunately, didn't climb much higher all day. Had I know that the water was so warm I would have chased the morning bite.
The fish today were, in a word, indifferent. Throw the kitchen sink in front of them and they might give you the decency to acknowledge you by turning around. Mostly they just stared. This did make sense with the only, slightly effective, presentation of the day was a burning hot rattlebait. I did hook up with a couple fish on that bait, one of which, to quote Mike Iaconelli, "this one's a giant!"
Alas, no fish stayed on our hooks all the way to the boatside today. We should have started 3 or so hours earlier. Blah...
