Decided to try live bait and went out in a rowboat. Tried fishing along the shore on the west side and again in the middle of the lake. No luck at either site, although did get 2 nibbles in the deep water. Lots of ducks and geese. The water level is pretty high right now and the walkway to the fishing pier is partially flooded.

In the summer time, I did really well with perch near the lilypads by the public pier. Use worms under a bobber. Also caught a bunch of 4 inch largemouth bass. Hopefully in a couple more years, they'll grow to be something worth catching.

I don't know what happened, but 2 years ago there were big bass in there. My largest was a 7 pounder. But last year there were only small ones... like there have been a crash in the bass population.

I think the Otters have something to do with the decline of larger fish in Phantom Lake. I have recently seen two Otters hunting and feeding on fish.
